INTERESTING CIVIL TO INDIAN WARS CARTRIDGE BOXES & MORE.
Comprising 6 individual leather cartridge boxes including a M1858 style leather cartridge box, sewn belt loops (no rivets) front flap with plate holes. A Civil War-era percussion cap pouch interior flap has both "ears" firmly sewn in place. Clearly stamped "S.H. YOUNG / & CO. / NEWARK / N.J." Fleece and nipple pick remain, bottom has brass finial. A U.S. ARSENAL ST. LOUIS marked leather bayonet frog. An early Indian Wars Newcomb & Lyon 1867 Patent Cartridge Box. Designed to hold 30 cartridges in .50/70 caliber.  When the box flap is undone, the cartridges pop up for easier removal. A steel spring was added to the center of the flap to keep it down in the covering position.  Inner box leather marked PATENTED 1867.  Never accepted for federal use. A C.1870 fold out Kings pattern for .45 cal., stamps on verso JOSIAS R. KING's PAT. NOV. 15, 1870 and W.M. TILESTON ASSIGNEE, also stamped AGENTS FOR SHULYER, HARTLEY & GRAHAM NEW YORK and the number 50. An interesting (experimental?) cartridge case by CROUCH & FITZGERALD NEW YORK. The large flap opening to reveal 44 cartridges holders, stamped No. 71 PAT.APD.FOR and below a U.S. Eagle, and also marked on verso. An eight-round wood cartridge box insert for .50 cal., with leather strap and brass hardware. A 7" x 5" leather cartridge box with two belt loops on verso, unmarked. An orange/brown leather R.I.A. marked cartridge case, the interior with wood block drilled for 18 rounds, missing one strap. And 5 tin Civil war era cartridge box inserts.
